Visit a Rehearsal

If you’re thinking about joining the choir, or just curious to try out singing, you’re warmly invited to come along to a rehearsal. Here's what to expext.

Newcomers are welcomed by a “buddy,” who’ll be on hand to guide you through rehearsals, music, and introductions to fellow singers.
  • Rehearsals are light-hearted but purposeful, led by our Musical Director to help everyone improve and grow in confidence.
  • The choir sings in four voice sections, and the conductor will help you find the right part for your voice.
  • We usually start with a warm-up, then full-choir singing, sometimes breaking into smaller groups for more focused sectional rehearsals.
  • All music is provided.
  • And finish on a high: as Opera North puts it "Singing makes you feel better."
The practical details:
  • We meet on Monday evenings, 7.30–9.30 p.m., with a short break in the middle.
  • Rehearsals take place in the main body of North Camp Methodist Church.
  • Limited on-site parking is available, and the Napier Gardens car park is only a few minutes’ walk away.
Just contact us beforehand at recruitment@hampshireandsurreyhillsmenschoir.org.uk we’ll confirm that rehearsal is on that week and and have everything ready for you,

And often, a few of us head to the pub afterwards, because the social side matters just as much as the singing. Please do join us.
