Watch our 3-minute video to hear the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir in action: singing together, performing, and sharing what makes our choir special.
We are a non-auditioned group of men from across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire who come together for the joy of singing in a male voice choir and raising money for good causes.
The choir performs two major concerts each year: a lighter summer performance and a popular Christmas programme. These feature our own semi-chorus and soloists, and often include guest performers sharing the stage. Each concert helps raise funds for local charities across our communities in Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.
We also sing throughout the year in village halls, theatres, churches, and at local festivals and events. From massed-voice festivals to intimate evenings, our repertoire covers a range of styles, such as:
The choir began life in 1960 as the Rushmoor “Odd Fellows” Male Voice Choir. That name reflects our roots and heritage, but today we are proud to sing as the Hampshire and Surrey Hills Men’s Choir. Read more of our history.
Our singers come from all walks of life and musical histories. Some haven’t sung at all or last sang at school; others bring years of experience. What we share is a love of learning and making music together.
“I’ve never been in a choir before… it’s just songs you can enjoy singing, and realising you can do something you haven’t tried before.” - Paul
Rehearsals are led by our highly-talented Music Director and include sectional practices, rehearsal tracks, and full scores to help every voice grow. New members are paired with a buddy to help navigate rehearsals, music, and concerts. We sing from memory at concerts, which helps us engage with the music and connect directly with audiences. Friendship and Community
Singing together is only part of what we share. From rehearsals and concerts to competitions, pub visits, and dinners, these moments build camaraderie and support both mental and physical wellbeing. Moreover, it has been shown to reduce stress, improve breathing, and give a real lift to mood, something highlighted in research from the University of Oxford.
"You enjoy the camaraderie of the choir. It’s like a team, all playing in the same direction — to raise money for charity.” - Colin
If you’d like to experience the music and the friendship for yourself, we’d love you to come along. Find out how to join.
