Subsequently, he trained with English National Opera’s Baylis Programme before
studying at the Royal College of Music as a postgraduate singer. As a soloist, he

choirs in concerts and in live radio and tv broadcasts, such as the BBC Proms, and
toured America and Europe.

He founded and conducted a number of nationally award-winning children’s and youth
choirs and conducted them on both BBC television and radio. More locally, he was
Director of Music at St. Thomas-on-The Bourne. Whilst Assistant Director of Music at

Opera House Covent Garden, London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle
for recordings and live broadcast from the Proms, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mariinsky Opera.

Since leaving teaching and music in 2016, and retraining at Chelsea College of Art,
Philip is an interior and architectural designer, and has an office based in Farnham.
but nevertheless, remains an active musician himself and passionate about music and
arts education. Philip’s musical claim to fame is that Margery, the choir's esteemed
accompanist, was his first-ever piano teacher!
